"Tour Diary"
March 3rd, 2003
I figured I'd slap down a report from our show on the weekend, just to keep everyone up to speed with what's been happening at our live shows.
First off, I'd like to say I think the Dominion is one of my new favorite venues to play. The atmosphere is good, and people came near the stage. The sound was good on stage, and from the feedback I got it sounded good in the audience as well. Kudos to the sound man!
Anyway, Citizen Band Radio went on first. This is the latest project by Brent, formerly of Dandy. They're light and poppy, featuring a violin player and songs that seemed to mostly be about explorers and historical figures. Very catchy songs, and performed energetically as well.
We played second, and upon taking the stage Paul and I realized we'd been conned by Steve. He comfortably spread out on one side of Chris, and Paul and I squeezed together on the other side. We had a couple of close calls with the kicks, but I figured it'd be unavoidable so I kicked away anyhow. We played a fast and furious set, even slipping a Thrush Hermit 'tribute' into the show. People seemed to genuinely like it, which is always good. The audience was primarly there to see The Candidates.
Speaking of which, The Candidates hit the stage last - and what a show! If you haven't already, you should pick up their cd 'Fame Fortune and Free Drinks'. I love a good rock show with lots of energy, and these guys had it. From kicks and jumps to the catchy singalong choruses. It was good.
Also, our cd has been sent out to select campus radio stations across Ontario, so feel free to call in and see if they'll play it. They should be doing it already, but a little request never hurt anybody.
