Today is a special day for a special boy. Be sure to wish him good tidings on this the anniversary of his birth.

Don't forget the customary birthday testicle pinch when you see him.

Heelwalkers added to Ottawa CD Release

August 24th, 2004

The show on October 9th at the Dominion in Ottawa is turning into one hell of a rock show. The Setbacks, Les Pugilists, and The Heelwalkers are going to destroy Ottawa!

In other news, our ep One Track Mind has spent nearly a month on the CKCU album chart, spending the last 2 weeks at number 2. Thanks to all the dj's that have been spinning the tunes. We'll be sending it out to stations across the nation closer to the official album launch.

The Ottawa Sun reviewed the ep a few weeks ago, you can read it in the Press section. There are also new pictures in the (you guessed it) photos section. And we're always updating the advice column WWSD.

August 6th, 2004

The Setbacks are going to be touching down in Montreal on October 8th, 2004 at Cafe Chaos in support of Halifax's THE HEELWALKERS!! You want your internal organs demolished? Come to the gig! Check out the SHOWS section to get the scoop in how to see your favorite band destroy all of Montreal with our rock! ALSO! Our F@*ckin Album Launch is at THE DOMINION TAVERN in Ottawa, Saturday October 9th, 2004. The day after! We are playing with the ferocious Les Pugilists, one of Montreal's finest garage rock bands. Jesus! This is all amazing news that is most excellent. This will be the official Ottawa launch of this record, and we will intend to absoloutely kill everyone in attendance with sheer volume.

What a Day!

Update: Trevor Kealey-Guitar & Vocals

August 4th, 2004

Wednesday August 4th, 2004 - Trevor Kealey, guitarist for Ottawa rockers The Setbacks, has joined the ranks of Scott Weiland, Keith Richards, and one of the Olsen Twins. After battling a serious addiction to all and every conceivable drug known to man, including Tylenols and large Milano pizzas, as well as having a multiple blood transfusions and trashing more than one Howard Johnson motel room after a show, Trevor has checked himself into the appropriate clinic for substance abuse treatment.

Actually... that was total bullshit. Trevor is as clean as a whistle, and he has good manners. The band wanted to take the opportunity to congratulate the happy couple on the birth of their child. The baby weighed in at 15 lbs, and was born with a Les Paul around her neck. Like father, like daughter....

More Shows

July 29th, 2004

We will be playing at Zaphod's on August 11th. Mark that on your calendars and then make sure to get yourself down there that night. The Red Arrows are opening, a double bill worth killing for.

You may have heard some songs from the ep on CKCU 93.1 already. They have been playing songs off the album all week. Very decent of them.

Make sure to stay tuned for more info on the official ep launch party in the fall...

Out of nowhere there came a flurry of rock and roll news.

July 19th, 2004

The Setbacks have been brought on to support The High Strung and The Department of Foreign Affairs this upcoming weekend at Barrymore's. See the shows section for details.

In the CD department, our disc is being finalized and shipped to us as we speak, so if all goes well we may have some for sale at the show on Saturday. But don't worry, we'll still be planning a CD release party to finish off the summer with a bang.

New Website

June 18th, 2004

Welcome to the new layout of our website. The new theme (which Steve worked long and hard on) corresponds to the new album! That's right, hidden here in the news item about the website is news about the new album!

The 6 song ep will be titled One Track Mind, and will be off for manufacturing soon. The artwork is being completed and beyond that we hope to release it later this summer. For now, you can get a taste of it in our music section. The title track is available for download.

I am slightly biased, but I will admit that this album rocks a lot harder than we've ever rocked. So tighten your belts and prepare yourselves for complete rock and roll oblideration.

New Website Coming Soon!

June 14th, 2004

We've been hard at work coming up with a fresh look for the Setbacks website to accompany the release of our new EP entitled "One Track Mind". The site should be ready to launch in next few days and the EP will be out in the next month. Exact date and details to follow.

Setbacks Studio Time

April 30th, 2004

As previously reported, we are heading into Little Bullhorn Studio today to work on some songs that we hope to release as an EP in the near future. We'll be working with Jarett Bartlett (Rolling Stones, Who, Mooney Suzuki, Tommy Hunter) at creating rock history.

The songs include some we've been playing live. Here's a list of the ones we hope to record:

-The Sleuth
-Paradise (Pair of Dice?)
-Born on the River
-Shirley MacLaine/Facekicker (temporary titles)
-Roll the Bones (temporary title)
-Shake Her Off (temporary title)

Check back on the website (likely in the Dear Diary section) as we update our progress throughout the weekend.

*note: the names in brackets beside Jarett's name are just some he likes, not necessarily bands he's worked with.
*also note: the news item below about East Coast music does not necessarily reflect the opinions of all band members.
